Andrew Wayness CA
Andrew is a well known figure in his home town of Galashiels. Andrew is the Hogg and Thorburn partner who specialises in technical matters, auditing, club accounts and charities.
During his spare time Andrew is a keen golfer and also acts as treasurer to some of Galashiels sporting clubs as well as being a board member at Borders College.

James Marjoribanks
James has experienced running businesses both for himself and other clients. He brings a "hands on" approach and helps provide a variety of businesses with monthly/quarterly management accounts to help decision making and also to forge better relationships with banks and other stakeholders.
He is currently a director of the Scottish Border Chamber of Commerce and chairman of the Borders Change Foundation which raises money for health related causes in the Borders.

Vivien Hogg BA CA
Vivien is our partner who is responsible primarily for our farming businesses and corporate clients, together with the construction industry and the related trades. Vivien has wide ranging expertise in all of these areas.
When Vivien is away from work she enjoys getting her hands dirty helping on the family farm and when time allows, a game of golf. Vivien has a young family and loves being involved in her children's activities.

Kenneth Adamson CTA ATT FFTAKenny is responsible for the Tax Services of the firm, both personal and corporate clients. Prior to joining Hogg & Thorburn in August 2003, Kenny worked in Edinburgh for a large accountancy firm, where he obtained a wealth of experience dealing with high net worth clients. With 20 years experience in Tax, Kenny brings a wide spread knowledge to the firm. Kenny is a member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation, The Association of Taxation Technicians and also a Fellow Member of The Federation of Tax Advisers. |

During his spare time Kenny enjoys keeping fit. He is a keen runner and also a qualified fitness instructor. Kenny is supported by Claire McConnell, Fiona Moffat and Brenda Ness. Claire has worked within the firm for the past 18 years. Our Tax Department reviews each client on an individual basis to ensure that their Tax Affairs are structured as efficiently as possible.

PayrollOur payroll department is headed up by Isobel Black. Isobel has many years experience of handling all payroll matters. We have summarised below the work of our payroll team. Firstly, we take the responsibility and hassle away from you and look after your payroll requirements for you. We administer PAYE, national insurance, statutory sick pay, statutory maternity pay, holiday pay and payments to sub-contractors. |

Accounts DepartmentOur accounts department has a blend of experience coming from Bruce Currie, Richard Smith and Jean Guthrie. All have been with Hogg and Thorburn for many years and their knowledge of the clients needs are second to none. Both Kirsty Ainslie and Eilidh Cleland have began their Chartered Accountancy exams and will ensure we adopt all the modern up to date accountancy regulations going forward. |

Administration DepartmentOur administration department supports the work of the whole accountancy practice. The staff in the department are Janette Turnbull and Sandra Dick. The administration team will often be a client's first contact with Hogg & Thorburn and the team members pride themselves on offering a friendly and efficient service.
